Welcome to Limerick's Life

There is also a Loughlin grave there from the 1700s that I uncovered. The headstone had sunk into the ground by eight inches or so the engraving was obscured.
Wonderful, there were quite a few that I found unreadable on my visits.

Hi Sharon and Mike. Can you double check number 19? The Anna Maria on 19 died on 21 Dec 1834. It is now hooked up to an obit for a
Mrs. Fitzgerald
Melbourne
Victor Australia
July 7, 1854
wife of John Fitzgerald Late of Caherconlish. The headstone says that Anna died on December 21,1854 so that has to be wrong. I believe if you look at the dates you will see that number 19 should be hooked up to the following
Anna Maria Fitzgerald
Rathkeale
Limerick, Ireland
30/12/1854
Widow of John Fitzgerald of Limerick City,
Solictor
Also when Mike gets up the obits for 1848 when James D’Arcy Evans died. I believe that you will find that he also needs to be hooked up with Anna Maria. In following the peerage books and the other obit for Anna Maria,I believe that after the death of John in 1834, that Anna married James D’Arcy Evans. The reported marriage date for them in the peerage books is January 2, 1834. However, I believe that if I can find the church records for that marriage or an announcement in the paper, it will probably be a date of January 2, 1835.
Thanks Carla
Hi Carla,
Thank you for letting me know, I have fixed the link now, the other Fitzgerald was just below yours in the 1854 Archive
Sharon
Hi Carla, 1848 is already on the obits and there is an entry for James D’Arcy Evans on it – http://www.limerickcity.ie/Library/LocalStudies/ObituariesdeathnoticesetcfromtheLimerickChronicle/1848/
Hello Sharon!
Roland Young in Fresno/Coarsegold, California.
I have been to IR. two time looking for family.
The last time I was in Co. Limerick in Glenosheen.n Billy Steepe sent info to me by mail. There was a John Peter, James Peter, Charley Peter Young that lived there and they probable were mine. They moved from Rathskiel to the Oliver Est. Billy was of the Irish Palitine,s as were mine.
Can you find any thing on my Young,s. Billy and wife Neile Young passed in 2004 be for I could get over there. I can send pic. and more if you would like them. Rol
Have you seen the y file for the obituaries collection
There are a few Youngs in there, when you have the year you can match them up with the year files
If you would like to send a more detailed record of who you have to limerickslife@gmail.com I will add them to my database and keep an eye out for them.
Sharon
Sorry, definitely last one! No. 101, Mary Anne Nagle – widow of late James Richard Nagle, dau of late Captain
B.B. Johnson
Last one (for now!). No. 114, William James Young – was resident at North Strand when he died, his wife’s middle name was Anna according to the newspaper listing, she was daughter of Robert Roland Drought, and they were resident at 4 New Street when she died.
Another example of further details from the Limerick City Library obituaries – no. 116, James De Zouche Marshall – was living at Rathmines, Dublin when he died, was an auctioneer, their address was George Street, Limerick when his wife died in 1852 and his son, also James De Zouche Marshall, died at Kilmurry, Bray, Co. Wicklow in April 1885.
Some of the missing details can be worked out by cross-referencing with the obituaries listings on the Limerick City Library website. For example, no. 125 above, Henry Woodburn – his year of death is 1862,aged 68, and for 30 years was Governor of the Co. Limerick Prison.

That was going to be my next step with them Mike, you beat me to it. I’ll add those details, and I’m sure there are other links to the local files to add to this too.
