Roche’s Hanging Garden Talk for Elemental

Posted on September 25, 2013March 13, 2019 by Sharon Slater

Roches hanging gardenAs part of the first Elemental Arts and Culture Festival in 2013 we gave a talk on the banker William Roche (1775-1850) who lived on George (O’Connell) Street and his wonderful Hanging Gardens on Henry Street. Following his death his gardens were dismantle as he had no children to carry on preserving it. The under-stores of the garden with their vaulted ceilings can be seen to this day.

We recorded the talk and apologies for the poor sound quality. The final fifteen minutes of questions and answers has been cut from the end of the video due to the questions being inaudible.
