The 6 January, the feast of the Epiphany, is culturally known in Ireland as Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Little Christmas. It was a time for women to gather to take time for themselves after all the Christmas festivities and activities. Meanwhile, the men and children would remain at home to take over household duties for a day.

In 2021, travel restrictions due to Covid19 mean that the usual gatherings of women have to be put on hold. This means that women have to take to their phones to keep in contact on this day. With people having to stay within their own county, this app

It is the perfect day to launch Women of Limerick, which seen a virtual gathering of Limerick women of note. The information in this app was researched by Sharon Slater, Historian-in-Residence at Ormston House as part of the Feminist Supermarket (2020–) at Ormston House.

The app leads the user through the streets of Limerick city with brief biographies and soundbites telling the stories of 25 Limerick ladies. Each of these 25 women are beautifully illustrated by artist Charlotte Lee.

The app is available on both Android and Apple.
